Who we are
We believe change takes root when people know who they are and are surrounded by people and resources that honor them. Rooted Advocates exists to build and strengthen communities one connection at a time.
The mission of Rooted Advocates is to work at the intersection of culture, justice, and identity to mobilize communities and foster healing through shared experiences. We believe that when individuals and communities are rooted in their cultural identity, they gain strength, healing, and the capacity for collective growth. We provide supportive spaces for people to explore identity, build community, and access healing resources.
Rooted Advocates is a nonprofit organization operating exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Our Roots…
Founder & Executive Director
Giselle is a longtime nonprofit leader, community builder, and cultural facilitator with over two decades of experience working alongside families, grassroots organizers, and mission-driven teams. She founded Rooted Advocates out of a deep belief that our identities — when nurtured and understood — are a source of strength, healing, and collective power.
After witnessing the increasing disconnection, polarization, and exhaustion within communities — especially among those most impacted by injustice — Giselle felt called to create a space that uplifts cultural memory, facilitates brave dialogue, and helps people feel seen and supported. Rooted Advocates is her response to a world in need of repair — a place where stories matter, healing is honored, and communities grow stronger together.
Her work blends lived experience, cultural humility, and a gift for asking the kinds of questions that spark reflection, connection, and change.
